If you frequent the pen boards, you know that one of the evergreen topics is the death of handwriting. How the age of electronic communications is wiping out our ability to write by hand, and that very soon everyone will only print, if they write at all.
I think this is silly. All you have to do is go to your local office supply store and compare the amount of store space given to writing instruments to the amount given to PDA’s & phones. Given the size of a writing instrument, it’s clear there is still strong demand.
Posts like this one, over at the Scrap n Art blog also remind us there is a community of people who treasure making their own words on paper.
While electronics and the internet will take a chunk out of manual communication, just as it has out of the printing industry, I don’t think it will suffer as badly.
