Also, another great thing about the Moleskine is that the pages lay flat when opened. Call me picky, but that's great for field and cafe use alike. The Miquelrius does not do that, and unfortunately, it did make a difference for me. One thing I will most likely never return to is the spiral-bound notebook, so the binding is important to me.

There is, actually, a denser (thicker) Moleskine notebook out there. The Moleskine Pocket Diary is a little more than twice as thick as the standard pocket notebook. Now, the pages are formatted to be a daily planner, and therefore is not available with square-ruled pages, but the lines are standard Moleskine lines. One of these notebooks would definitely last a lot longer than the standard Moleskine, and if you ignore the date stamps (they only take up the top line, and are easily written over), the size of the notebook is very useable. I currently have the Miquelrius flexible notebook (the one similar in size to the Moleskine, the A4 I think), and the pages are great, as is the size. What I miss about the Moleskine is the hard covers, which I personally like, and the color of the paper. Now, if only they made another Moleskine the size of the Pocket Diary, but with regular ruled or squared pages, that would be divine.
