Get happier with a Moleskine

08 18th, 2007 Author: Steve

In his book Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment, Tal Ben-Shahar writes:

In research done by Robert Emmons and Michael McCullough, those who kept a daily gratitude journal — writing down at least five things for which they were grateful — enjoyed higher levels of emotional and physical well-being.

Last year I developed a strong urge to get a Moleskine softcover 18-month planner, mostly because I couldn’t - they were all sold out. This year I found one in July at a bookstore, and it is more or less perfect for this, although there’s room for just about 5 items, but not much explanation unless you use the notes page for each week. Still, a nice use for a nice notebook!

Jott.com - an awesome way to record thoughts

07 27th, 2007 Author: Steve

Have you ever been in your car or somewhere else, and had that great idea or thought you wanted to record but couldn’t write it down? Go set up a free account at jott.com. You register your cell phone number, and then you can leave a message with them. But it’s much better than voice mail, because they convert it to text and then email it to you!

Not only that, but they provide a link to the original audio just in case the voice is too quiet or unintelligible.

This does essentially what voice recorders and voice recognition software do, but for free!

Tech Ronin’s Moleskine update

01 8th, 2006 Author: Steve

Janet Tokerud over at Tech Ronin has a nice Moleskine update where she talks about her experiences and techniques. In particular, I enjoyed her comments on having a book for each location versus a book for each subject. It’s a question I’ve pondered more than once.

Have a look.
